Project win: Air quality assessment: Waltham Cross

Aether has been commissioned to undertake an air quality assessment for a proposed conversion of a 5 storey office block to residential apartments in Waltham Cross. The site lies close to a busy road junction and therefore it is important that the residents’ exposure to air quality is assessed.

Waltham Cross is located in the London Borough of Broxbourne and the Council are currently considering whether to declare an additional Air Quality Management Area covering the proposed development location. The Borough currently has two other AQMAs – one adjacent to the M25 covering Arlington Crescent and one that covers a section of Waltham Cross High Street.

As there is detailed information available on local air quality, a screening assessment using DMRB will be undertaken. Both an assessment both pre and post development will be carried out and if appropriate mitigation actions will be suggested.
