Oxford becomes a Pilot City for the Mayors’ Sustainable Development Indicators

Together with our collaborator Benviroc, Aether is developing the Mayors’ Sustainable Development Indicators (MSDI).

The MSDI is a Sustainability Index for municipalities in Sweden, Finland and the UK. The index, that will be launched in 2018, aims to compare municipalities’ environmental, economic and social sustainability according to a range of indicators.

The service is currently developed in collaboration with a group of Pilot Cities, and today we are happy to announce that Oxford joined the MSDI. We will work together with the Pilot Cities to select the most relevant indicators, and ensure that the service helps improve their work on the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Located in south east England, Oxford has a population of 170,350 inhabitants. Located some 92 km from London, Oxford is known worldwide as the home of the University of Oxford. In recent years, Oxford has taken considerable action to work with sustainability issues by joining the Covenant of Mayors, and developing the 2016 Oxford Sustainability Index.
